Composer’s Note:

This work has been developing in the back of my mind for a couple of years. I’ve wanted to write a piece that encapsulates my thought process when I look up at the night sky or across a beautiful landscape. These moments give me perspective. That my worries and my problems are so little when compared to the wide universe we live in. And yet, they are part of the beauty of living and part of the human experience.

The title of this work comes from Psalm 8:3-4 which reads:

“When I consider your heavens,

the work of your fingers,

the moon and stars,

which you have set in place,

what is mankind that you are mindful of them,

human beings that you care for them?”
